Chocolate Factory Remake

Now that I have Blockbuster delivering me movies in my mailbox I get to see a lot of movies I’d otherwise not normally see. One of those movies was the remake of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I was highly disappointed but I expected as much as the movie was such a classic. Why doesn’t anyone have any ideas of their own these days other than ruining existing movies? They don’t even have to be completely original ideas. My thoughts on how this remake should have went involve the factory owner now being Charlie, who is old, and wants to hand over the factory to another young boy like he once was. Most of the storyline could then remain the same, but those parts that didn’t would be interesting and original – not upsetting. I think that would have been a much better “remake” than what was done by Hollywood.
