Glass Half Full

I’m a pessimist with bursts of optimism, but for the most part I plan for the worst. Over lunch today I had one of those moments where you realize you’re living wrong. In this case it was my view of time spent work. As a pessimist I’ve seen it as “I have to work 5 out of 7 days of the week”. Or “The only good thing is the weekend and it’s only 2 days”. That’s really not a healthy way to manage your life. Recently though I’ve been looking at the days of the week differently, thinking only x more work hours until the weekend… not so helpful on a Monday, but reassuring towards the end of the week. Then today it hits me. I work 40 hours. There are 24 hours in a day. I don’t even work two days a week. I’ve been looking at life EXACTLY BACKWARDS. I work ~2 out of 7 days with 5 days off, not 5 out of 7 days with 2 days off.
